What The Root Project Is.

The Root Project is a filmed, one-on-one interview designed to preserve someone’s story in their own words.

Each session is a calm conversation guided by questions that lasts about one hour and takes place in a familiar, comfortable setting. There is no performance and no pressure to say things a certain way.

After the interview, the conversation is lightly edited to maintain its natural flow and personality. At the end you will receive a physical plaque that is personalized to you and that leads you to your video.

You receive:

  • A ~45 minute edited interview video

  • A physical, engraved certificate

  • A private digital link to access and share the video

Everything is delivered digitally within 4 weeks.

Why It Matters.

Most family stories live only in memory or get passed down in fragments. Voices fade. Details blur. Nuance gets lost.

The Root Project exists to capture people as they actually are, not as a highlight reel or a summary. Video preserves the pauses, the humor, the emotion, and the way someone tells their story in a way text and photos cannot.

This is not about creating something flashy. It is about creating something that will still feel honest and meaningful decades from now. Something children and grandchildren can return to when time, distance, or loss make those

conversations impossible.

Stories get told all the time.

Very few ever get saved.

This makes sure they do.

THE CONVERSATION

A one-hour, filmed conversation guided by me, based on questions you choose ahead of time.

We film in your home or another comfortable setting. I guide the conversation at a natural pace so it feels more like talking than being interviewed.

While the interview itself lasts about one hour, the full session typically takes up to two hours from start to finish.

The conversation is followed by simple b-roll capture and, if agreed on beforehand, a brief look at meaningful photos or personal spaces in your home to add context to the story.
